Coping with impediments to tourism

In 2010, the tourism industry in Asia had to cope with various difficulties which affected the development of Diethelm Travel as well. Political unrest impaired tourism in Thailand, Diethelm Travel's home base, and also depressed arrivals to many countries in the region.

There were some bright spots, however. Sri Lanka and the Maldives enjoyed considerable growth. Diethelm Travel Golf, launched in  December 2009, started well and extended its inbound services to six countries. The company acquired the exclusive rights across Asia for the World Corporate Golf Challenge, the largest corporate golf trounament in the world.
